The Girl behind the cupcake:
It all started with a normal shopping trip to the local IGA. I was a 14-year-old girl who’d assumed we’d fill the cart with produce before proceeding to the bakery for my free cookie. I was unaware, at the time, that my dad’s master plan was to find both my sister and I a job. As you can imagine, 14-year-old me was undergoing her first existential crisis: NO MORE FREE COOKIES?
Alas, the summer of 2008 changed my life forever. When I wasn’t sneaking out of the house with my closest friend (you know who you are), I was slicing bread and serving cream-filled croissants to customers all summer long and, before I knew it, I picked up a piping bag, and the rest is history.
I’ve never been a ‘member’ of conventionality – in fact, the inventor laughed when I asked for an application. I am, however, fond of that whole ‘road less traveled’ idea. I guess it’s easier on the feet.
So, here I am – a flower child, married to the cutest ginger, with the dream of opening a small bakery in my hometown of Spruce Grove. Thanks to all your support, I hope to get there…one cupcake at a time!
